Reporters learned from Ministry of Commerce that the Sino-US business relationship is getting smoothly in recent years. Compared with the early days when the diplomatic relations was established, there has been a qualitative change in Sino-American business cooperation. The cooperation has been expanded from the single trade pattern to every aspect of economy.
According to the statistics, the Sino-US trade value rapidly grows, from less than 2.5 billion USD in 1979 to 211.6 billion USD in 2005. That is, In 26 years, the figure is increased by 80 times.
Currently, the US is our second largest trade partner, the top export market, the sixth largest import nation and the third largest technology import nation; China is US's the third largest trade partner, the fourth largest export market and the second largest import nation.
From January to November in 2006, the trade value between China and US reached 238.7 billion USD, increased by 24.6% that of the same period last year. The products that China imported from the US value 53.9 billion USD, increased by 23% that of the same period last year. In recent years, China is US’s major export market with the fastest growing rate.
By October 2006, the US had invested 51555 projects towards China, which involved 121.364 billion USD of contract price. The net input of the US party reached 53.2 billion USD. At present, the US is our main source of foreign capital. Meanwhile, Chinese enterprises will increase investment towards the US, which involves the areas of industry, science, garment, agriculture, catering, food processing, travel, finance, insurance, shipping, contract, etc. |
